The Bijou Café is a charming Continental-American restaurant located in the heart of Downtown Sarasota's historic "Theatre and Arts District." Over the years, the "Bijou" has established itself as one of Sarasota's most popular fine dining restaurants.
 
Owned and operated since 1986 by Chef Jean-Pierre Knaggs and his wife, Shay, the Bijou has recently been remodeled and renovated. The restaurant now seats 130 people in three separate dining rooms. A new private room that seats 24 was designed for business conferences, meetings, wedding rehearsal dinners etc. A new bar and lounge was also added at the new entrance with seating at the beautiful cherry wood bar for 9 and at tables for about 20. Smoking is only permitted at the bar. Two outside courtyards were also created for alfresco dining on those balmy Florida evenings.
 
The cuisine at The Bijou Café reflects Jean-Pierre's South-African and French heritage. Many of the Bijou's recipes were gleaned from Jean-Pierre's travels around the world as a chef aboard a luxury private yacht.
 
The award winning wine list features outstanding selections from the U.S., France and around the world. The wine list also proudly carries one of the most extensive selection of South African wines in Florida.
 
The Bijou Café has been distinguished by the Zagat Survey top ten, raved about in Town and Country magazine, Bon Appetit and Gourmet and is a consistent winner of the Wine Spectator's "Award of Excellence
